What Does the 2nd Amendment Really Mean?

If you only read or watch one thing on this blog, watch this. You might have already seen it as it has been circulating around for a long time. But if not, it will add perspective to anyone's thoughts about the 2nd Amendment.
No matter who you are, what you believe or how you were raised, you can't deny she makes a strong point. After watching the video below ask yourself ONE question. Did she deserve the right to defend herself and her family and by default many others around her?
Remember, if guns kill people then...
- Food makes us fat.
- Cameras cause pornography.
- Cars cause traffic accidents.
Restrictive gun laws don't take guns away from criminals - criminals disobey laws of almost every kind! Look how well the government is doing with the War on Drugs/Prostitution/Illegal Immigration/etc!
Criminals will always find ways to commit crimes. Gun laws only take away the right for law abiding citizens (those who will obey laws no matter if they agree with them or not) and eliminate their right to defend themselves against acts of violence.
Please pass this on to one person you know. Just one.

COPIED DIRECTLY FROM WIKIPEDIA:
Suzanna Gratia Hupp (born January 11959)[1] is a former Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, who represented traditionally Democratic District 54 (BellBurnet, and Lampasas counties) for ten years from 1997-2007. Hupp is recognized as a leading advocate for the Second Amendment and an individual's right to carry a concealed weapon. She was elected to her first term in 1996 but did not seek a sixth two-year term in 2006.

  1. This should be shown to every law-maker in the country! How is it that gun laws are STILL passed out with testimony like this?

  2. WOW!!! I do believe every american has the right to carry a firearm to protect themselves and their family. The idea of making it illegal to do so, in order to minimize shootings, is true insanity since we already know making something illegal does not keep criminals from engaging in such activities.

  3. I think real problem is the rifle the "mad man" was using, and how a "mad man" got a gun in the first place. Also even if it were leagl to carry a gun everywhere that doesn't mean everyone will. On avergae 1 in 4 people in the U.S. own a gun, that is dramatically lower that what it used to be. When the united states first became a nation almost every American owned a gun. When people talk about how "crimnals" will always have guns, there fore we shouldn't have gun laws does enot make sense, this is like saying "crimnals will always use/have drugs there fore we shouldn't have ANY laws against drugs. Also it is not hard to aquire a firearm. When I purchased my first gun (Remington 870 express) it took less than 15 minutes to purchase. The longest part was filling out paperwork. And i live in washington state which has stricter gun laws than most. The problem is keeping guns out of the hands of gangs and teens, since this causes most of the homocide deaths in the U.S. About 12,000 per year (the same as 6 september 11th terror attacks)To think that there isn't a problem is ignorant, but to those who do have a suggestion please leave a comment. What i don't understand is how gun ownership in other countires (Sweden)is higher than the U.S. but gun fatalalites are dramastically lower.

WHAT!!! There shouldn't be a war against drug! Prostitution NEEDS to be legal! The United States was founded by immigrants!
Why is it illegal to sell something but leagl to give away for free?? (prostitution)

  5. even 12,000 deaths a year by firearms, whether by criminals or legal gun owners is nothing compared to the 500,000 who die due to obesity related heart failure

or the estimated 225,000 iatragenic (caused by a physician) deaths a year (The JOURNAL of the AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (JAMA) Vol 284, No 4, July 26th 2000 article written by Dr Barbara Starfield).

Doctors are responsible for more deaths than firearms annually.

  6. So are you suggesting that we do nothing because more people die of other causes? Because by that logic we shouldn't have done anything about 9/11 since only 2,500 people died in that attack. I personally think action should have been taken to prevent more terror attacks and action should be taken to reduce obesity and gun violence.
